As part of the preparation for the participation of the Philippines as the Guest of Honour country in the world’s largest and oldest Book Fair in 2025, the officials of Frankfurter Buchmesse headed by Juergen Boos met with the National Book Development Board (NBDB) to discuss updates and pending matters on the upcoming Frankfurt Book Fair.
We also welcomed a delegation of German publishers in the Philippines. Their visit allows us to introduce the rich cultural and literary heritage the Philippines can offer to the global audience. On their first day of activities, they visited the Makati Science High School for a book donation and storytelling activity with students. They were also able to have a tour at the National Library of the Philippines and the National Museum of Anthropology, particularly the galleries of Hibla ng Lahing Filipino–the first permanent textile gallery, the GAMABA (Gawad Manlilikha sa Bayan) gallery, and Baybayin gallery. We hope that through this informative series of activities, the German publishers will have a deeper understanding of Philippine culture and history.
