Is this the ERC’s coming-of-age celebration? I am sure the “debutant” theme you have for this event is but a symbolism of an ERC reborn.

ERC’s “coming-of-age” started from the minute it was created upon passage of EPIRA on June 8, 2001.

Bilang pakikiisa sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika ngayong Agosto, iginiit ni Deputy Speaker at Antique Congresswoman Loren Legarda ang kahalagahan ng Wikang Filipino at mga katutubong wika sa Filipinas.

 

Ayon sa kanya, ang mga ito ang nag-uugnay at nagbubuklod sa atin at siyang susi sa kaunlaran, kapayapaan, at katarungan. Binigyang-diin din niya ang malaking papel na ginagampanan ng wika sa ating kasarinlan at kaakuhan.

Legarda Urges Communities to Embrace Climate Adaptation

In line with the southwest monsoon affecting the entire Philippines, Deputy Speaker and Antique Congresswoman Loren Legarda today urged local communities to implement measures to combat climate change and its effects.
Legarda, an environmental champion, said that local communities should learn to adapt to climate change as its effects are getting worse and damaging.

Message of Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda for 2019 Eidul Adha

Deputy Speaker and Antique Congresswoman Loren Legarda is one with our Muslim brothers and sisters as they commemorate the Eidul Adha or “Feast of the Sacrifice” today.

 

Legarda, co-author of Republic Act No. 9849 or “An Act Declaring Eidul Adha a National Holiday”, encouraged everyone regardless of religion or belief to reflect on what this day truly means.

 

“I hope that this feast will continue to guide our Muslim brothers and sisters, as well as non-Muslim Filipinos, in living a life of faith and devotion, guided by mutual respect and understanding,” said Legarda.

Legarda Announces Opening of Hibla Travelling Exhibition in San Francisco, California

Deputy Speaker and Antique Congresswoman Loren Legarda today proudly announced the opening of the Hibla ng Lahing Filipino Travelling Exhibition in San Francisco, California.

 

Titled “Piña-Seda: Pineapple and Silk Cloths from the Tropics,” the exhibition highlights piña-seda woven fabrics from the Philippines, including those handwoven by Anna India Dela Cruz and Nelia Rogano from Kalibo, Aklan and those embroidered by Salvador and Angela Yasoña from Lumban, Laguna.

Speech of Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda: Hibla ng Lahing Filipino Travelling Exhibition

Traditional textiles are ties that bind. It links the past to the present and brings together cultures, which, no matter how diverse, has a commonality.

It is in this premise that the Hibla ng Lahing Filipino textile gallery was born in 2012 in two small rooms of the National Museum of the Philippines.
