I am filled with so much joy and pride to share with you all that the Philippines has been chosen as the Guest of Honour for the Frankfurt Book Fair in the year 2025.
The Frankfurt Book Fair is the world’s largest and oldest trade fair for books. Being a Guest of Honour, it would give our country a unique, prominent position in the global arena and an opportunity to showcase our publishing industry’s creativity and intellectual prowess. This will also elevate the country’s overall reputation, resulting in a boost in tourism and positive branding of our growing exports from other areas of our creative sectors.
The road to being the Guest of Honour was not easy. In 2016, through my support, the Philippines was able to mount a professional well-designed country exhibition in this prestigious book fair. Through the years, together with the National Book Development Board (NBDB), we worked to push for this dream. Today, we signed the MOA with Frankfurter Buchmesse to seal our commitment. Toast to this extraordinary achievement of the Philippine publishing industry and creative industry sector!
