It is my privilege to speak at the Philippine Book Festival today before creatives – authors and illustrators, publishers, DepEd officials, and representatives from the Frankfurter Buchmesse, among others. I encouraged our writers and publishers to innovate approaches that will creatively integrate arts and culture in our textbooks, making it more engaging and insightful for our learners to appreciate our national identity.
I also took the opportunity to share that the Philippines will be the Guest of Honour country to the 2025 Frankfurter Buchmesse, the world’s largest book fair, made possible through years of collaboration with the National Book Development Board (NBDB), the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
As co-author of the Philippine Creative Industries Act, rest assured that I will always support the creative sector. Together, let us ensure that we will be able to increase readership, and improve the comprehension skills and literary interests of our younger generation.
