I joined Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri and my colleagues Senate Majority Floor Leader Joel Villanueva and Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, in extending a warm welcome to the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Honorable Kim Jin-pyo, and the Korean delegation.
As we celebrate the 74th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea this year, I am hopeful that our bilateral ties will continue to flourish. Key areas of cooperation, such as maritime collaboration and enhanced people-to-people exchanges, hold great promise for the future. These aspects are further emphasized in the proposed Strategic Partnership between our nations.
Our discussions also touched on the Philippine Studies program at the Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS), which I staunchly supported. I have consistently advocated for continuously supporting the Philippine Studies program in various prestigious educational institutions worldwide, aiming to promote our rich Philippine culture, history, and language.
As a member of the Philippines-Republic of Korea Parliamentary Friendship Association in the Senate, I remain enthusiastic about the ongoing collaboration between our two countries. The opportunities for continued partnership are boundless, and I look forward to witnessing the positive outcomes that will further strengthen our deep-rooted friendship.
