Newly appointed German Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency Andreas Michael Pfaffernoschke, made a courtesy call in the Senate.
As the founder and President of the Philippines-Germany Parliamentary Friendship Association in the Senate, I am pleased to be collaborating with the German government on various events in anticipation of the 70th anniversary of our strong diplomatic ties in October 2024.
Our collaborative efforts extend to various areas, with a particular emphasis on climate action, including the International Climate Initiative’s (IKI) initiatives in the Philippines. The IKI, supported by the German Federal Government, addresses climate change and biodiversity conservation globally.
During our meeting, it was heartening to receive the Ambassador’s commendation for my steadfast dedication to ensuring the active participation of the Philippines since 2016 in the world’s largest book fair, the Frankfurt Book Fair. A remarkable milestone in this regard is the recent honor bestowed upon the Philippines, as it has been selected as the Guest of Honor Country for the 2025 Frankfurt Book Fair.
With optimism and enthusiasm, I look forward to fostering stronger ties between our nations! ????
