Keynote Address of Senator Loren Legarda at the Opening Ceremonies of Dialogo: Philippines Studies Goes Global (November 27, 2024)
In 2016, I envisioned the establishment of Philippine Studies programs worldwide to deepen the understanding of Filipino culture, history, and identity. By 2017, this vision materialized beginning in SOAS University of London. Today, I am proud to support 25 universities across the globe in fostering cultural promotion.
Now, we mark another milestone with the first-ever Philippine Studies Conference, bringing together students and academicians from all over the world to study and celebrate the richness of Filipino culture.
I am in awe of how far we’ve come and excited for what more we can achieve together.
Together with the DFA-OCD, I continue to commit further expanding the program’s reach and deepen its impact.
