Started the week at the 2023 National Forum on Geographical Indications organized by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).
I have long been promoting the products of our Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and I understand how important it is to provide them with support and assistance so they can sustain and improve their production. We have made great strides through legislation such as the Magna Carta for MSMEs, One Town, One Product (OTOP) Bill, and the Cultural Mapping Bill, which we hope to pass into law in the upcoming months.
I firmly believe that the Philippines is one of the wealthiest nations in the world. With vast and rich culture in the archipelago, our country possesses so much potential that we can proudly present worldwide.
We thank IPOPHIL for strengthening the protection of our cultural identity. We, from the government, are excited and very much willing to work with you in safeguarding our local brands through the intellectual property system.
