Hearing of the Proposed 2025 Budget of the Cultural Agencies (August 29, 2024)

I presided over a five-hour budget briefing of the Proposed 2025 National Expenditure Program of the country’s cultural agencies.
In a time when cultural identities are increasingly challenged by globalization and modernization, it is crucial to equip our cultural agencies with the resources they need to effectively fulfill their mandates. As we carefully review their budget proposals, my focus remains on supporting initiatives that strengthen our cultural identity, foster inclusivity, and make our cultural and historical treasures accessible to every Filipino.
I am grateful for the active participation of all cultural agencies in today’s budget briefing—the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, the National Archives of the Philippines, the National Library of the Philippines, the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino – all of which stayed throughout the entire five-hour deliberations.
