Cecile Licad at the MET: A Women’s Month Celebration

Last night was a fitting tribute to all talented women!
Cecile Licad is a testament to the Philippines’ contribution to the world of classical music, which has truly inspired a generation of Filipino musical geniuses who continue to shape and advance the country’s rich arts and culture scene.
I am honored to have organized this special occasion together with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra Society, Inc. (PPOSI). I am grateful to my dear friend, Nedy, who started this project last year. This concert is a tribute to her life and legacy.
The concert was free, a gift to our music students from public and private schools and universities. It is important to me that we nurture the next generation of Filipino musicians so that their love for music continues to flourish.
May we recognize this event not only as a performance but also as a tribute to the resilience of women and the power of artistic expression.
