Last May 3, the University of the Philippines Visayas launched the book, “Pagdahû ka Surundon: A Reference Book on Panay-Guimaras Traditional Knowledge Systems.” This book is an offshoot of the coffee table book, “Kabukidan tubtub Kadagatan: From Seas to the Mountains-the traditional Knowledge Systems of Panay and Guimaras”which I initiated back in 2017 with the help of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region VI.
Congratulations to the academic institutions that collaborated to ensure the successful publication of this book. The ‘Pagdahû ka Surundon’ contains information on Panay and Guimaras culture and traditions, as well as a collection of written articles by researchers from the University of the Philippines Visayas, University of Antique, Aklan State University, West Visayas State University, Capiz State University, and Guimaras State University.
Together with our experts, academicians, and government agencies, we will continue to champion initiatives that empower communities to preserve and revitalize our cultural heritage, ensuring its preservation for generations to come.
