April 25 Board of Commissioners (BOC) Meeting of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA)

I am dedicated to advocating for the continuous enrichment and preservation of our culture.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the Board of Commissioners (BOC) Meeting of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). Engaging with individuals who share my passion for safeguarding and promoting our rich cultural heritage was truly inspiring.

During the meeting, we discussed strategies for collectively safeguarding our historical buildings to foster a stronger sense of national identity. I also emphasized the need for recognizing and preserving all of the rice terraces scattered across the Philippines as part of our cultural heritage preservation efforts. Reflecting on my recent attendance at the 60th Venice Art Biennale, I shared insights on how far we’ve come since the Philippines’ participation in 2015, breaking a 51-year hiatus from the Venice Biennale.

Furthermore, I underscored the importance of integrating culture into our country’s development plans to ensure its integral role in shaping our future. I remain committed to nurturing and celebrating the diverse cultural history of our nation.
