Today, the 10th Top Leaders Forum was held with the theme “Transforming Victims to Victors: A Multi-stakeholder Approach to Inclusive Resilience”. We are reminded of the critical link between disaster resilience and sustainable development, as outlined in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
For the Philippines, one of the countries that is most susceptible to climate and disaster risk, resilience is continuous work attended by unwavering focus and dedication.
My gratitude to Her Excellency Mami Mizutori, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, and ARISE Co-Chair for recognizing our effort in disaster risk reduction, and making sure that we build local communities that are resilient and climate-adaptive.
Thank you to Climate Change Commission Commissioner Rachel Herrera for representing me in this event. Although I was not able to attend personally, I wish to assure you that with my capacity as a legislator, we will remain committed to putting forward laws and policies that will mitigate the effects of climate change and transform our nation into a climate-adaptive one.
