In August last year, I had the honor of delivering the keynote speech at the Asian Conference on Climate Change and Disaster Resilience, organized by the Asian Institute of Management (AIM). Seeing the dedication and innovative spirit of individuals grappling with the same concerns ignited a spark. This led to the launching of the Scholarship Program for Sustainable Leadership Learning for Climate and Disaster Risk Reduction (SLL-CDRR) through AIM’s EMDRCM program in collaboration with my office, the Climate Change Commission, and the AIM.
Last night, I finally met and welcomed the pioneer SLL-CDRR scholars and the rest of the members of the EMDRCM and the Master of Science in Data Science (MSDS) programs at the AIM.
As an iskolar ng bayan at the UP Diliman and the National Defense College of the Philippines, my mission has always been to give back. And inspired by the commitment of the students to enhancing resilience and safeguarding lives, I pledged to securing additional scholarships for EMDRCM and introducing new scholarships for the MSDS program at AIM.
These two tracks will empower the cohort to transform crisis into opportunity and drive meaningful change in their communities and beyond.
