Public and municipal parks, plazas, arboretums, botanical gardens, and family recreational parks are vital components of a healthy urban ecosystem. I laud the Department of Budget and Management’s (DBM) launch of the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) – Green Green Green Program which is in line with the DENR’s Enhanced National Greening Program that aims to enhance public open spaces and assist local government units in making their respective communities more livable, sustainable, and well-connected through green infrastructure.
Having filed several bills that support this, including the Sustainable Cities and Communities Bill, Food Forest Gardening Bill, and the Better Normal for the Workplace, Communities, and Public Spaces Bill, I call upon our LGUs, private sector partners, and community leaders to work together to build communities that are not only beautiful but also sustainable and resilient.
Let us ensure the health and well-being of our citizens and promote a deeper connection with nature.
