Commemorative post on the 126th anniversary of the Malolos Congress

As we commemorate the 126th anniversary of the Malolos Congress, I am reminded of the incredible legacy our forefathers left us. The Barasoain Church stands as a testament to their courage, determination, and vision for an independent nation. My own great-grandfather, Ariston Gella, was among the delegates who shaped the Malolos Constitution, one of the first republican constitutions in Asia.

This historic moment calls on us to continue upholding the values of freedom and the rule of law. Independence is not just something we celebrate—it’s something we must safeguard every day. Let us honor the sacrifices of those before us by working together to build a stronger, more resilient nation.
