On International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we honor the leadership and resilience of our kababayans with disabilities. This year’s theme, Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future, resonates deeply with my advocacy for their welfare.
As the author of the amendatory law to the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons (R.A. No. 10070) and the principal author of the mandatory PhilHealth coverage for PWDs under R.A. No. 11228, I remain steadfast in championing their rights and creating opportunities for their empowerment.
This day serves as a call to action for all sectors to collaborate in building an inclusive society where PWDs can lead and contribute to nation-building. Their talents and determination are vital to our nation’s progress. Let us amplify their voices and work towards a future where no one is left behind.
