It is with great pride that I announce the opening of the Aklan Piña: Handloom Weaving and the Schools of Living Traditions of the Philippines exhibit at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. Through this exhibit, we bring the beauty and heritage of our indigenous Filipino traditions to the world stage, showcasing the craftsmanship and artistry behind piña weaving and the preservation efforts of the Schools of Living Traditions. As someone deeply committed to cultural preservation, I am honored to continue supporting and sharing these treasures of our heritage with a global audience.
Preserving our intangible cultural heritage is not only a duty but a lifelong commitment for me. The traditions we hold so dear, from handloom weaving to the practices passed down through generations, are at risk of being forgotten. But through initiatives like these, we ensure that they remain alive and appreciated. I am proud to be part of this important mission to safeguard and continue promoting our unique cultural identity to the world.
