Deliberations on the Proposed FY 2025 budget of the Presidential Communications Office (November 13, 2024)

We have been emphasizing the crucial role of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) in enhancing public awareness of government initiatives, educating citizens about important services, and fostering involvement in national development. We have also tackled challenges, especially misinformation, data privacy violations, and fake news.

As we defended the proposed 2025 budget of the PCO, the agency expressed its willingness to provide training and seminars to help the public learn how to spot and combat fake news. We have also raised funding for the Philippine Information Agency’s (PIA) Barangay Information Officers Network (BION) to enhance the government’s efforts in disseminating information in the country’s remote villages.

The commitment to fostering an informed public is vital as we uphold transparency and accountability, especially in the government. We will continue to support such efforts that empower our communities.
