This Women’s Month, I am glad to host the Photo Exhibition “Resilient Spirits: Capturing Courage, Celebrating Strength, Inspiring Inclusion—An Odyssey of Women and Girls Finding Hope Away from Home” at the Senate to celebrate and illustrate the stories of women and girl refugees who found hope to rebuild their lives in the face of adversity and have found solace in the Philippines.
Having filed Senate Bill 1243, or the Rights of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Act, which ensures that gender-responsive programs and services are provided to IDPs, I believe it is high time that this bill is enacted into law to empower and address the challenges faced by refugees, asylum seekers, stateless persons, at risk of statelessness, and internally displaced persons.
I thank the UNHCR and its fellow UN agencies headed by Resident Coordinator Gustavo Gonzalez for being our main partner in this event. Visit the interactive photo exhibition, which will be open until March 22 at the 2nd floor of the Senate building.
