As part of the Philippines’ designation as the Guest of Honour at the 2025 Frankfurter Buchmesse, a delegation of German publishers explored the nation’s dynamic literary scene.
On their second day, they engaged in insightful sales pitches and one-on-one sessions with publishers, and creatives. These interactions sparked lively discussions about potential translation rights and international publication opportunities, paving the way for future collaborations that will enrich the literary landscape of both countries.
As the visionary and project principal of the participation of the Philippines as Guest of Honour country in the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2025, I am glad to witness this synergy between the Philippines and Germany.
This initiative, which started more than 8 years ago, is a collaborative undertaking of the National Book Development Board (NBDB), the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Office of Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda.
