Yesterday, we went through the proposed budget of the Department of Health (DOH) for FY 2024 and its attached agencies. We discussed the coverage of PhilHealth, which concerns every Filipino. Together with my fellow Senior Vice Chairperson of the Committee on Finance, Senator Pia Cayetano, we inquired on how the benefits can be expanded to members and how the subsidy can bring their services closer to our fellow kababayans. I encouraged them to utilize the government’s media infrastructure to effectively communicate government health services that are available to the Filipino people.
We also pressed on the need to pay the health emergency allowance of our healthcare workers, in recognition of their invaluable role during the pandemic.
We firmly believe that every Filipino has the right to receive quality healthcare services. We are committed to working collaboratively with the DOH and other government agencies to guarantee that our fellowmen will receive the services they rightfully deserve.
