As your four-term Senator, I have continuously championed the rights of my fellow women and children. It was during my first term when I principally authored and co-sponsored Republic Act No. 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act of 2004. It was also during my first term when I authored and co-sponsored Republic Act No. 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003. Having seen that there is a need to strengthen this law, I then co-authored and principally sponsored Republic Act No. 10364, or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012.
I am pleased to give this personal donation to the Child Protection Network Foundation, Inc., represented by its Executive Director Dr. Bernie Madrid, and Director Atty. Katrina Legarda, to support and help with the establishment of Women and Children Protection Units nationwide!
Dr. Bernie is also the Head of the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) Child Protection Unit and Atty. Kat has always been a staunch advocate of the rights of women and children. Together, with these women’s support and cooperation, we can significantly improve the lives of many women and children who are in need of protection.
May this humble donation be a step towards the eradication of all forms of violence and abuse against our women and children.
