Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, said that the 2018 national budget provides funding to ensure that all Filipinos can be covered by health services in government hospitals. However, ensuring that every Filipino anywhere in the country can access this free health coverage is another challenge.

Senator Loren Legarda today welcomed the announcement of Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Benjamin Diokno that the agency has released the funds for the payment of pension arrears to World War II veterans.
“This is good news for our veterans and their families and very timely as we celebrate Araw ng Kagitingan on April 9. Our war veterans have served our country well and their families also suffered during the war. This is one way of showing our gratitude for their contribution to our country’s liberty,” said Legarda.

Senator Loren Legarda expressed her support for the resumption of the peace negotiations between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP).
Legarda made the statement in support of House Resolution No. 1803 authored by 61 congressmen urging President Rodrigo Duterte to resume the peace talks with the NDFP.
