Senator Loren Legarda today said the enactment of the amended Public Employment Service Offices (PESO) Act is a huge leap in addressing the long-drawn issues of unemployment and underemployment in the country.
Legarda, co-author of R.A. 8759 or the PESO Act of 1999 and its amended version, stressed that PESOs will help make the transition period between graduation and employment much shorter with a wide range of career options.

The forum will be led by Senator Loren Legarda who has long championed the cause of climate change mitigation; Secretary Lucille Sering of the Climate Change Commission; Chair Chito Gascon of the Commission on Human Rights; Mr. Bonar Laureto of the Philippine Business for the Environment; and Atty. Jennifer Corpuz of the Tebtebba Foundation which advocates for the rights of indigenous peoples. Atty. Senator Loren Legarda who had won national and international recognition for her outstanding pioneering work on environmental concerns is guest speaker, with the following panel speakers: Secretary Luncile Sering of the Climate Change Commission; Atty. Antonio Oposa, Ramon Magsaysay Foundation awardee; Atty. Jose Luis Martin Gascon, chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights; Mr. Bonar Laureto, executive director of the Philippine Business for the Environment; and Atty. Jennifer Tauli-Corpuz, legal and human rights coordinator, Tebtebba Foundation. Dr. Carmencita N. Reodica, member, Board of Trustees of the JCMPF, will give the introduction while its chair, Dr. Mina T. Gabor, will give the welcome message. The other two trustees, Atty.
