“There are a lot of lessons to be learned in the tragedy that was caused by Supertyphoon Yolanda and that is what we want to impart through this film. We hope that more people would be aware of the need to strengthen our resilience to disasters,” said Senator Loren Legarda as she welcomed guests to the Philippine premiere of ‘Taklub’, which was shown as the opening film of the 20th French Film Festival on June 3, 2015.

‘Taklub’, the advocacy film directed by Brillante Mendoza and starring Ms. Nora Aunor that was part of the 68th Cannes Film Festival under the Un Certain Regard category, has received special commendation from the festival’s 2015 Ecumenical Jury. The film was produced by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), in cooperation with the Presidential Communications Operations Office-Philippine Information Agency (PCOO-PIA), with the support of Senator Legarda, principal advocate of the project.
