PHL Pavilion from Venice Biennale now on view at UP’s Vargas Museum

December 11, 2016

After a fine showing at the 56th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia in 2015, the Patrick Flores-curated “Tie A String Around The World” exhibit has come home.

“Tie a String” features the works of Manuel Conde, Carlos Francisco, Manny Montelibano, and Jose Tence Ruiz and will be on view at the Vargas Museum in the Univesity of the Philippines in Diliman until February 18, 2017.

“Tie A String Around the World was remarkable, our powerful re-entry to the prestigious exhibition after 51 years of absence. After representing the Philippines and making an impact in the 2015 Venice Art Biennale, it is now in the country’s premier state university for Filipinos to see,” Senator Loren Legarda said during the exhibit opening on Friday.

The exhibit, picked a “must-see” at the Venice Art Biennale, was mounted through the joint efforts of Senator Legarda’s office, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the UP Vargas Museum. — Aya Tantiangco/BM, GMA News
