Mideast OFWs support Villar-Legarda tandem

February 3, 2010

THE TANDEM OF SENATOR MANNY VILLAR AND SENATOR LOREN LEGARDA OF NACIONALISTA PARTY (NP) HAS WON THE SUPPORT OF A GROUP OF OVERSEAS FILIPINO WORKERS (OFWS) IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
In a statement, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia-based Migrante-Middle East said that apart from the Villar-Legarda tandem, it is also supporting some senatorial candidates of NP who come from militant organizations such as Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo and Gabriela Women’s Party-list Rep. Liza Maza.
“Ka Satur and Ka Liza are with Makabayan, an alliance of militant organizations, and are guest candidates of the NP headed by its Presidential candidate Sen. Villar. Makabayan and Sen. Villar have agreed to push genuine people’s agenda of alleviating the condition of the poor, implement genuine agrarian reform, peace and justice, among others; thus, this alliance deserves our support,” John Leonard Monterona, Migrante-Middle East regional coordinator, said.
Since Migrante Sectoral Party has been disallowed to participate in the 2010 elections by the Commission on Elections, Migrante-ME said their chapters in the Middle East and member organizations would be supporting Gabriela in the party-list election. By JC Bello Ruiz
