NP-NPC-LDP VICE PRESIDENTIAL BET SENATOR LOREN LEGARDA, TOGETHER WITH POP PRINCESS SARAH GERONIMO AND THE WOMEN NP SENATORIABLES, TODAY LAUNCHED A FEEDING MISSION AT NORTHVILLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, LAMBAKIN, MARILAO, BULACAN, AND BROUGHT “LINGKOD L.O.R.E.N.,” HER ADVOCACY FAIR IN BRGY. HULONG DUHAT, MALABON.
Legarda also attended a consultation meeting with the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) and Guardians of Poltrero, Malabon.
“The campaign period is an opportunity to educate our voters about the issues embattling our country, and present concrete, doable platforms to address them. That is why Lingkod LOREN is at the heart of my campaign. We want to bring national issues to the masses and help them make an informed choice come election time. At the same time, we’d like to cater to their immediate needs,” said Legarda.
“Climate change, for instance, is an issue confronting all of us, the rich and the poor alike. It affects the simple Filipino’s life because it is connected to issues on hunger, disaster mitigation, and even the power shortage we now experience,” Legarda said.
Legarda, an advocate of grassroots democracy and people empowerment, said that she likes to conduct consultation meetings because it helps make her platform more responsive and effective.
“True democracy is all about encouraging our fellow citizens to participate in decision-making processes and issues that affect them. Leaders should not claim to be the end-all of all knowledge, but should acknowledge that the best solution oftentimes come from those at the brunt of the problem’s wrath,” Legarda said.
Lingkod L.O.R.E.N. is Senator Legarda’s advocacy fair which hosts an eye camp, job fair, free breast exam, climate change film-showing, and free hair cuts.
Senator Loren Legarda has authored laws that provide more opportunities and assistance to the poor, such as the Barangay Kabuhayan Act (R.A. 9509) and the Magna Carta for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Act (R.A. 9501). She is also the only vice-presidential candidate carrying environmental issues in her campaign.
