“I express my sympathies to the family of Ben Aniceto. I am deeply saddened by his passing,” said Senator Loren Legarda on the passing of journalist and former ABS-CBN executive Benjamin Aniceto.

“Ben was a distinguished journalist himself but he also gave opportunity to many journalists. He was my first boss post-EDSA Revolution like most ABS-CBN journalists who joined the network when it reopened after the martial law period,” she added.

“I will always be grateful to Ben for his help in bringing me to ABS-CBN in 1986. He handpicked me to anchor the English newscast The World Tonight and supported the first telemagazine show PEP Talk on ABS-CBN, which I produced and hosted. He was very professional and very supportive and kind to me,” Legarda said.

Aniceto had more than five decades of career as journalist and he served as ABS-CBN’s general manager from 1986 to 1987. He was also known for his book “Stay Tuned: The Golden Years of Philippine Radio”.
