“I ASSURE YOU THAT OUR ELDERLY CITIZENS WILL NOW ENJOY MORE COMFORTS IN LIFE, WITH THE IMPLEMENTING RULES AND REGULATIONS OF OUR EXPANDED SENIOR CITIZEN’S ACT HAVING BEEN SIGNED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WELFARE AND DEVELOPMENT (DSWD),” PROCLAIMED A PROUD SENATOR LEGARDA.
Loren Legarda is the principal author of R.A. 9994, more commonly known as the Expanded Senior Citizen’s Act of 2009. The new law provides for more tax privileges, incentives and benefits to resident citizens of the Philippines at least sixty (60) years old.”
“The law has been put into place, what we must now ensure is its proper implementation.”
The Senator lauded business and medical establishments that have started implementing the new law.
“I commend those who respect the law and have started the enforcement of the same. I urge all other business and medical establishments to follow the law to the letter and provide our senior citizens the right and privileges that has been given to them under the new Act.”
“The law also provides for stricter penalties. Let these penalties serve as deterrent to people who may not want to abide by the law or abuse it.”
“I want to ensure that our senior citizens enjoy a full and happy life. They have given much to this country with their hard work throughout their productive years. It is now our time to give back to them,” Senator Legarda said.
