Loren: Latest survey shows green platform gaining more support

December 21, 2009

WITH THE LATEST OPINION SURVEY SHOWING HER GAINING 14 PERCENTAGE POINTS OVER HER CLOSEST RIVAL, SEN. LOREN LEGARDA IS CONFIDENT THAT AS THE CAMPAIGN PERIOD NEARS, SHE WOULD DEFINITELY EMERGE ON TOP OF THE VICE-PRESIDENTIAL RACE.
“I am very pleased with the results of this latest survey. It validates my belief that a green platform is precisely what this country needs, and that the Filipino electorate approves of my efforts in pushing a pro-environment agenda,” Loren said.

Legarda attributed her dramatic surge in survey ratings to her solid achievements as a senator and her image as a staunch environmental activist.

According to the December 8-10 Pulse Asia survey, preference for Loren as the country’s next vice-president went up from 23% in October 2009 to 37% in December 2009, or a gain of 14%.

This puts Loren in a statistical tie with Liberal Party vice presidential candidate Sen. Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, who got a 39% preference rating from respondents.

Pulse Asia said, “Senator Legarda is the only vice presidential candidate who registers a significant change in voter preference since October 2009.”

Loren is the vice-presidential candidate of the Nationalist People’s Coalition and is running in tandem with Sen. Manny Villar, standard bearer of the Nacionalista Party.

“I will work hard to the utmost with the Nacionalista Party slate headed by my presidential candidate, Senator Villar, for victory in the May 2010 elections for and on behalf of the Filipino people,” she said.

Loren is running on a platfoalf of the Filipino people,” she said.

Loren is running on a platform that emphasizes a pro-people leadership, a more holistic development philosophy, environmental protection, enhanced protection of OFWs, attainment of a just and lasting peace, greater role of women in development, and better appreciation and promotion of the distinct Filipino culture.
