Loren gets Bulacan and Nueva Ecija support

May 6, 2010

NP-NPC-LDP VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE HAS EARNED THE SUPPORT OF THE MUNICIPALITIES OF SAN MIGUEL, SAN RAFAEL AND SAN ILDEFONSO IN BULACAN AND TALAVERA, NUEVA ECIJA, INCLUDING THE 2,000-STRONG KABALINGAY WOMEN OF BULACAN WHO ENDORSED THE LONE FEMALE VICE PRESIDENTIAL BET TODAY.
“Di lang tuloy ang laban – ituloy natin ang panalo,” said Loren to a cheering crowd of supporters.
Talavera mayoralty candidate Nery Santos hailed Legarda as a true champion of the masses and a compassionate leader.
The provinces of Bulacan and Nueva Ecija are major agricultural areas in Central Luzon, producing rice, fruits, vegetables and root crops.
Loren is a well-known advocate of agriculture and rural empowerment.
She has authored the Amendment to the Agri Agra Law which provides more loanable funds to farmers; the Barangay Kabuhayan Act which establishes livelihood and skills training centers in the fourth, fifth and sixth class municipalities to open employment opportunities; and the Magna Carta for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Act which strengthens the small and medium enterprises.
“To achieve true progress in the country, we have to make sure that no one is left behind. Inequality is at its worst in the provinces, where ironically, the growers of our food, our farmers and fishers, are the first to grow hungry. That’s why the first step in eradicating poverty must be taken in the rural areas,” said Loren.
Loren urged for more investments in agriculture, which she intends to execute once she becomes vice president. “My strategy is to open up more markets, provide more access to credit, and extend to our farmers and fisherfolk adequate technical and financial support.”
