Legarda to file Emergency Food Subsidy Act

Deputy Speaker and Antique Lone District Representative Loren Legarda will file a bill on Emergency Food Subsidy that seeks to provide assistance to poor families in times of crisis, such as the ongoing covid-19, which has resulted to the enhanced community quarantine in the entire Luzon and has affected the livelihood of Filipinos, most especially the daily wage earners.

According to the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), the estimated number of poor families in NCR is 48,400, equivalent to 308,600 individuals.

“This bill will provide emergency food subsidy to the poor and marginalized people who are affected by the enhanced community quarantine,” Legarda stated.

The said bill will provide emergency food subsidy of Php500.00 per day to 100,000 households in the National Capital Region for a duration of 30 days.

The bill will also include all provinces affected by covid-19 and the enhanced community quarantine.
