Legarda salutes the life and legacy of late Senator Rodolfo Biazon

Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda honors the life and legacy of former Senator Rodolfo “Pong” Biazon as she leads the Necrological Service dedicated to the late senator at the Senate today.

“He is admired for his dedication to selflessness and how he was able to gain the affection and trust of the people being a former soldier. He possessed a genuine love for our flag and had proven his steadfast commitment to upholding the integrity of our democratic institutions,” Legarda conveyed, citing Biazon’s unsurpassable services in safeguarding the nation’s freedom.

During the service, Legarda underscored the significant contributions of Biazon in upholding the country’s interest through meaningful legislation and resolutions that remain relevant today.

Aside from national security and defense matters, she said that the late senator’s role in fighting for climate change, disaster risk reduction, and democracy is truly remarkable, earning him the respect and admiration of those who knew him.

Legarda also expressed her sincerest gratitude for the steadfast support and backing that the former senator extended to all of her advocacies and endeavors, calling him a true officer and a gentleman.

“His selfless service and unwavering commitment to this cause make him stand lout as an inspiration to many. He will always be revered and respected as a figure of courage, honor, and patriotism. This farewell is tinged with sadness as I bid goodbye to a valiant warrior and honorable individual who served this country with unwavering loyalty,” she remarked.

“As we reflect on the life of the late senator, we express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Though his passing is a great loss for us all, we find comfort in the legacy he leaves behind,” Legarda added.

Biazon passed away last June 12, 2023, at 88, after battling lung cancer for almost a year. (end)
