Legarda provides medical mission, cash and livelihood assistance in Tagaytay City

Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda provided dermatological consultation, mole and warts removal, and minor removal of cysts for 384 Tagaytay City residents on Friday in partnership with Beauty Beyond Borders Foundation.

The event was held at the Sigtuna Hall of the Tagaytay International Convention Center.

Legarda, who did a similar medical mission last February in Malabon City partnered with the Aivee Group and the Tagaytay City local government unit to help bring the Lingkod Loren Medical Mission closer to vulnerable and marginalized citizens in the area.

A total of 41 staff members, including doctors, nurses, and aestheticians from the Aivee Group joined the medical mission, as well as three (3) general practitioners from the Tagaytay City Health Office to address any general medical concerns.

“Batid natin ang kahalagahan ng mga serbisyong medikal na ibinahagi natin sa ating mga kababayan sa Tagaytay at sana’y makatulong ito sa kanila. Mahalagang matutunan din natin ang mga epektibo at tamang paraan ng pangangalaga at pag-iingat sa ating balat, kalusugan, at katawan na ibinahagi ng mga doktor ng Aivee Group sa mga pumunta sa ating medical mission,” Legarda said.

Simultaneously, 332 beneficiaries were awarded a total of P1 million under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the initiatives of Legarda.

There was also a distribution of DOLE Kabuhayan, a program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), with eight beneficiaries who received livelihood packages.

The eight, all Cavite residents, engage in different trades such as dressmaking, welding, and street food selling.

Ten (10) wheelchairs from the DSWD and maintenance medicines for diabetes and hypertension, courtesy of the Department of Health (DOH), were also distributed.

“Isang pasasalamat ang nais nating iparating sa mga naging daan para maging matagumpay ang ating medical mission – ang DOLE at DSWD, lokal na pamahalaan ng lalawigan ng Cavite, at ang Beauty Beyond Borders Foundation. Ipagpapatuloy natin ang mga programang tulad nito para sa ating mamamayan,” Legarda remarked. (30)
