Legarda honors Philippine Pavilion as vessel of memory, imagination at Frankfurt Book Fair
October 14, 2025At the Philippine Pavilion Reception during the 77th Frankfurt Book Fair held from October 15 to 19, 2025, Senator Loren Legarda described the space as a vessel that carries the stories, struggles, and spirit of the Filipino people across seas and into the heart of Europe.
“The Philippines stands today in Frankfurt not only as Guest of Honour but as a nation of storytellers, of islands, of journeys, of fighters, of survivors, of lovers, of memories, and of millions of stories longing to be told,” Legarda said.
Her remarks invited guests to experience the Pavilion, curated by Patrick Flores and designed by Stanley Ruiz, as a space of reflection and wonder, built from kapis, bamboo, piña, and steel, and shaped by Filipino hands.
The Pavilion features the following zones: our National Hero Jose Rizal; the work of National Artists and National Living Treasures; the history of books in the Philippines; and books on the Philippines published outside the country in the last five years.
“What better way to know our country than to immerse in the literature that has shaped our education, our institutions, and life itself?” Legarda asked .
Legarda’s message affirmed the Philippine Pavilion as a living archive of Filipino truth, where memory meets imagination and stories become bridges.
