Legarda Gifts Antiqueños with Back-to-Back PPO Concerts

November 30, 2018

Senator “Inday Loren” Legarda has gifted her fellow Antiqueños with a back-to-back concert of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) titled “Paskwa: A Christmas Concert” on November 30 in Tibiao and on December 1 in San Jose.

“This is my gift to my kasimanwas. I am sure they will enjoy the PPO’s music. It was 25 years ago when the PPO first performed in Antique. We commemorated that last March when they performed in Anini-y and now, they are back to share their music to more Antiqueños,” said Legarda.

The November 30 concert will be held at the University of Antique in Tibiao; while the December 1 concert will be held at the People’s Park in San Jose and will coincide with the lighting of the Christmas Tree.

The PPO concerts will be led by Maestro Yoshikazu Fukumura as the Music Director and Maestro Herminigildo Ranera, the orchestra’s resident conductor.

The concerts can also be viewed live via Inday Loren Facebook page www.facebook.com/indaylorenlegarda/.

As Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, Legarda has provided additional funding for the PPO’s outreach concerts. These outreach concerts aim to promote music appreciation throughout the country.

“Music is one way to re-energize the body, mind and soul. It not only brings entertainment but also increases creativity. Our support for the PPO outreach concerts is part of our efforts to evoke sense of pride among Filipinos and gradually bring about cultural renaissance in the country,” said Legarda, a staunch advocate of Philippine art and culture promotion.

Established in 1973 as an accompaniment for the performing artists at the CCP Theater, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra has become the country’s leading orchestra and is widely regarded as one of the top musical ensembles in the Asia-Pacific region.
