April 9, 2020

Today, Deputy Speaker and Lone Representative of Antique Loren Legarda commended the courage of frontliners, as the entire nation celebrates Araw ng Kagitingan.

“We are all now facing an invisible enemy, which our frontliners are valiantly facing everyday. They are like our warriors during these times. They are our doctors, our nurses, all health workers and the ones who care for our COVID-19 patients. They are the staff at the supermarket who make sure that we are able to have our basic essentials. They are the drivers and delivery staff who bring food to our homes, so we do not have to go out. They are our farmers and fisherfolks who till the fields and scour our seas, our vendors in the markets, so we can have food to eat. They are our government employees, who are working hard, going house to house, to make sure that assistance is given to our people. They are our frontliners, our policemen and our policewomen, who man the checkpoints, exposed daily to this disease that has now affected the world. It is just but fitting that we honor them,” Legarda said.

“As we commemorate today the bravery of our soldiers who fought in Bataan during the World War II, let us not forget to honor our frontliners who have died fighting against this disease. Let us also continue to support those who are still facing its dangers with unwavering valor. To our modern-day heroes and heroines, we salute you,” Legarda concluded.
