Legarda alarmed at Comelec revelation of 700,000 double registrants

“IT’S ALARMING AND ALL HONEST CANDIDATES SHOULD BE CONCERNED,” NP-NPC-LDP VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE LOREN LEGARDA SAID ON WEDNESDAY ON THE RECENT COMELEC REVELATION THAT AROUND 700.000 VOTERS IN ITS NATIONAL LIST WERE DOUBLE REGISTRANTS.
“The PPCRV (Philippine Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting) was right after all: This is just the tip of the iceberg,” Legarda said. “It’s ironic that our first modern election could be ruined by such ancient tactics as flying voters and padded voters’ list. ”
She was referring to the statement made by Howard Calleja of the PPCRV after the poll watchdog sniffed out more than 40,000 “double registrants” in Davao City and Davao del Sur.
“Itong ating nahanap sa Davao City at sa Davao del Sur (What we found in Davao City and Davao del Sur) is just the tip of the iceberg. We would like to see and find out as the reports would come in from our volunteers,” Calleja said.
