Ex-DOTC chief Lichauco dies at 75

FORMER TRANSPORTATION SECRETARY AND CIVIL SOCIETY LEADER JOSEFINA LICHAUCO PASSED AWAY SUNDAY MORNING. SHE WAS 75.
A report from the Philippine Daily Inquirer said Lichauco, who also served as National Telecommunications Commission commissioner during the Aquino administration, died two weeks after suffering a stroke in Hong Kong.
A radio dzBB reported early Monday that Lichauco died at about 5 a.m. Sunday while undergoing treatment at the St. Luke’s Medical Center.

The report said Lichauco’s remains were cremated and may be brought to its resting place on Thursday.
Her remains lie in state at the Capilla del Senor at Santuario de San Antonio, Forbes Park, Makati City.
“She is a dear friend and close ally of BAYAN and will be sorely missed,” the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) said in a statement on its website.
Bayan described Lichauco as an “uncompromising and persistent fighter for truth, good governance, human rights and social justice.” – RSJ, GMANews.TV
