ERB Upholds Legarda’s Transfer of Registration to Pandan, Antique

October 31, 2018

The Election Registration Board (ERB) of Pandan, Antique has upheld the transfer of voter registration of Senator Loren Legarda in Barangay Mag-aba, Pandan, Antique, declaring oppositions as “baseless and premature.”

On Wednesday, Legarda received the decision of the ERB Pandan, Antique denying the oppositions filed by Atty. Robin P. Rubinos, Arnold Z. Sastrado, Erlinda C. Roquero and Felixberta B. Gumboc.

“I humbly and warmly welcome the favorable decision of the ERB of Pandan, Antique. Even with three oppositions filed against my transfer of voter registration, I have been optimistic that I will win the case because I am fully compliant with the law,” said Legarda, who is running as representative of the lone district of Antique.

Legarda has been a resident of Barangay Mag-aba in Pandan, Antique from January 1, 2018 up to the present. This was certified by a Resolution issued by the Sangguniang Barangay.

The fact of Legarda’s actual residency in Barangay Mag-aba since January 1, 2018 more than complies with the requirements of Section 9 of R.A. No. 8189, which states that a citizen “who shall have resided in the Philippines for at least one year, and in the place wherein they propose to vote, for at least six months immediately preceding the election, may register as a voter.”

“I share this victory with my kasimanwas. I thank all those who believe in me and have been with me in this journey to help our beautiful and resource-rich province become progressive. This is just the beginning of more victories for our province. Nothing will stop me from serving our people,” said the three-term senator.

“I call on my fellow Antiqueños, let us unite for our province. Let us not instigate hate, instead, let us work together for the good of our people and our beloved province. There is so much we can do for Antique if we are united,” Legarda concluded.
