ERB Upholds Decision on Legarda’s Transfer of Registration to Pandan, Antique

December 10, 2018

The Election Registration Board (ERB) in Pandan, Antique upheld its decision on the validity of Senator Loren Legarda’s transfer of voter registration to Barangay Mag-aba in Pandan as it denied the Motion for Reconsideration (MR) filed by Arnold Z. Sastrado.

In its decision dated November 26, 2018, the ERB in Pandan denied the MR for “lack of merit.”

“The arguments advanced in the Motion for Reconsideration filed by Oppositor Arnold Z. Sastrado appeared to be baseless and unsubstantiated under the rules, regulations and official records of the COMELEC, and therefore, served no other purpose but to confuse the Board, the same is hereby DENIED,” read the ERB resolution.

Earlier, the ERB in Pandan had already denied three oppositions filed against Legarda’s transfer of voter registration, declaring oppositions as “baseless and premature.”

Legarda has been a resident of Barangay Mag-aba in Pandan, Antique from January 1, 2018 up to the present. This was certified by a Resolution issued by the Sangguniang Barangay.

Legarda said she is thankful for the favorable decision and assured that she will not be distracted by tactics against her run for Congress.

“My focus is to help my home province, which has been neglected for too long. I will not let anything distract me from serving our people and I call on all Antiqueños to unite and work together to make our beautiful province progressive,” said Legarda.
