July 25, 2018

Senator Loren Legarda invites the public to watch the last episode of Dayaw season 5: Pagdiwang at Pasasalamat, showcasing how different Filipinos celebrate, give thanks, and declare their religious faith.

Episode 6 titled, “Si Maria at si Niño” (Celebrating the Virgin) features a significant icon in the Filipino Catholic community, Mary Mediatrix of All Grace, known to devotees as a source of succor and consolation. The documentary tackles her role as a personal symbol of identity and sees how the Catholic traditions of Spain became uniquely and distinctly Filipino through her.

It will be aired on Thursday, July 26, 6:30 pm, on the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), with livestreaming on news.abs-cbn.com/live and on ANC’s Facebook page.

“On our Season ender, we take a look at an icon who holds a very special place in the hearts of Catholic Filipinos, Mother Mary of Mediatrix, a source of succor and consolation. In her many guises and titles, she becomes a personal symbol of identity, a reminder of the old hometown, the province, the communities we return to during the celebration of her feasts,” Legarda said.

“I hope that this season rightfully depicts Filipinos as a thankful race. Gratitude always informs our rituals and our traditions. The viewers can be guaranteed that in the succeeding seasons of Dayaw, we will continue to show you the worlds beyond your own,” Legarda concluded.

Dayaw, conceptualized and hosted by Senator Legarda, and produced by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and ANC, is a six-part, 30-minute weekly documentary series that focuses on the preservation of the country’s culture and heritage.

It is shown every Thursday, at 6:30 pm on ANC, with live streaming on news.abs-cbn.com/live and on ANC’s Facebook page, and aired simultaneously on The Filipino Channel (TFC). Replays are on Friday 1:30am and 2:30pm, Saturday 3:00am and 8:30am, Sunday 11:30am, and Monday 1:30pm.
