Dayaw Season 3 Finale: A Heritage of Words

April 5, 2017

Senator Loren Legarda invites everyone to watch Dayaw season 3 finale on Thursday, April 6, 6:30 pm, on the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), with livestreaming on abs-cbnnews.com/live and on ANC’s Facebook page.

This season’s last episode, “Sa Diwa, Sa Salita”, explores the nation’s heritage of words through chants, epics, poetic jousts, and even the more contemporary forms, like rap and spoken word.

“All throughout the third season of Dayaw, we have admired the Materiales Fuertes—stone, silk, abaca, clay, wood, cotton, gold, ivory; we have peeked into the minds and the personalities of traditional artisans; we know their patience, their skill, their strength. On this last episode of season 3, we celebrate the most inspiring of materials from which we have sought to build a nation—nothing simpler, more powerful, more moving and inspiring than words,” said Legarda.

The episode features chants that turn into rituals, becoming a means to communicate with the ancestors and even with the spirits revealing a means to heal. It also features poetic jousts that were once mainstream forms of entertainment and discourse.

Dayaw, conceptualized and hosted by Senator Legarda, and produced by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and ANC, is a six-part, 30-minute weekly documentary series that focuses on the preservation of the country’s culture and heritage.

It is shown every Thursday, 6:30pm on ANC and ANC HD, with livestreaming on abs-cbnnews.com/live and on ANC’s Facebook page, and simultaneously on The Filipino Channel (TFC). Replays on Thursday 10:30pm, Friday 1:30am and 2:30pm, Saturday 3:00am and 8:30am, Sunday 11:30am, Tuesday 1:30pm, and Wednesday 11:30pm.
