Senator Loren Legarda invites everyone to watch the first episode of Dayaw Season 5, featuring two icons of the Catholic faith, on Thursday, June 21, at 6:30 pm.

Aired on the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), the first episode, “Ang Niño at Ang Nazareno”, tackles the significance of the Nuestro Señor Cristo Nazareno and the Santo Niño in the lives of Filipino devotees.

“In this episode, we will see how Nuestro Señor Cristo Nazareno and the Santo Niño embodies the robust and enduring folk faith of the Filipino Catholics. In these rapidly changing times, it is also important to be reminded of the foundations of our faith through these significant icons and the two notable religious events, the traslacion and the Sto. Niño festival,” said Legarda.

“Let us explore how the Nuestro Señor Cristo Nazareno, who embodies our sufferings, patience and endurance; and the Santo Niño, who embodies our optimism, joy, and child-like exuberance, intertwined with the ways we worship and live.  We will see how the rituals and traditions featuring these two religious icons influence the norms in our society,” Legarda added.

Dayaw, conceptualized and hosted by Legarda, and produced by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and ANC, is a six-part, 30-minute weekly documentary series that focuses on the preservation of the country’s culture and heritage.

It is shown every Thursday, at 6:30 pm on ANC, with live streaming on abs-cbnnews.com/live and on ANC’s Facebook page, and aired simultaneously on The Filipino Channel (TFC).
