‘Dayaw’ Features Traditional Homes

November 9, 2016

Senator Loren Legarda invites everyone to watch the second episode of Dayaw featuring traditional homes on November 10, 6:00 p.m. on the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) and ANC HD.

The second episode, “Kanlungan – The Sheltering Filipino Home”, looks into how Filipino homes have been shaped by the environment. It features the Ivatan home, the Ifugao Bale, the T’boli longhouse, the Bahay Kubo and the Bahay na Bato.

“In this episode, we will see how Filipinos have built houses that adapt to the climate and environment in their respective communities. There are houses that have withstood strong typhoons and those that become shelter during earthquakes. There are houses that are adorned with symbols of culture or a family’s status in the community,” said Legarda.

“We see how our indigenous peoples have made their homes not only for shelter but also as spaces for nurturing families and connecting to communities,” she added.

Dayaw, conceptualized and hosted by Senator Legarda, and produced by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and ANC, is a six-part, 30-minute weekly documentary series that focuses on the preservation of the country’s culture and heritage.

It is shown every Thursday, 6:00pm on ANC and ANC HD, with replays on Friday 1:30am and 2:30pm, Saturday 3:00am and 8:30am, and Sunday 11:00pm. It is aired simultaneously on The Filipino Channel (TFC).
