Senator Loren Legarda invites everyone to watch the third episode of Dayaw Season 4 – Vessels of Culture on Thursday, January 18, 6:30pm, on the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), with livestreaming on abs-cbnnews.com/live and on ANC’s Facebook page.

Episode 3 titled, “Living Treasures (Part 2),” features three living Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) awardees from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao—Eduardo Mutuc of Pampanga, who was awarded in 2004; and Federico Caballero of Iloilo and Uwang Ahadas of Basilan, who were both awarded in 2000.

“This episode looks into the lives, genius artistry and works of three artists who possess unique cultural talents. Mutuc is a metalsmith who has dedicated his life to creating religious and secular art pieces such as altars and carosas. Meanwhile, the tradition of Central Panay lives on through the chants of Caballero who has also mastered the epic tales of his people. Ahadas is a blind folk musician who plays Yakan traditional instruments and has mastered the complicated rhythms and instruments that make up the Yakan Musical Ensemble,” Legarda said.

“Through this episode of Dayaw, we can we learn a lot from these cultural masters as we admire the complexity and richness of their work,” Legarda added.

Dayaw, conceptualized and hosted by Senator Legarda, and produced by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and ANC, is a six-part, 30-minute weekly documentary series that focuses on the preservation of the country’s culture and heritage.
