Dayaw Features Cultural Filipino Dances and Artists

January 24, 2018

Senator Loren Legarda enjoins the public to watch the fourth episode of Dayaw Season 4 – Vessels of Culture, showcasing “vessels” of traditional and cultural Filipino dances.

Episode 4 titled, “Dancing with Vessels,” will feature the Ramon Obusan Dance Troupe, Ligaya Fernando-Amilbangsa, the Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company, and the UP Filipiniana Dance Group. It will be aired on Thursday, January 25, 6:30pm, on the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), with livestreaming on abs-cbnnews.com/live and on ANC’s Facebook page.

“This episode features men and women who have chosen to study, record, and teach our artistic traditions, particularly Filipino folk dance and performance, to a greater public. It is a difficult mission that they have chosen, but you will see and experience their passion, dedication and love for this aspect of our culture,” said Legarda.

“Beyond the technicalities that surround the art of dance, this episode showcases the very soul of the Filipino—the style, emotion, spirit, and passion of being a Filipino that are imbibed and expressed in every step and movement of our traditional and cultural dances,” she added.

Dayaw, conceptualized and hosted by Senator Legarda, and produced by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and ANC, is a six-part, 30-minute weekly documentary series that focuses on the preservation of the country’s culture and heritage.

It is shown every Thursday, 6:30pm on ANC, with livestreaming on abs-cbnnews.com/live and ANC’s Facebook page, and aired simultaneously on The Filipino Channel (TFC). Replays on Thursday 10:30pm, Friday 1:30am and 2:30pm, Saturday 3:00am and 8:30am, Sunday 11:30am, and Wednesday 4:00am and 11:30pm.
