Legarda Invites Filipino Curators and Artists to Submit Proposals for PHL Pavilion in 2017 Venice Art Biennale

Senator Loren Legarda encouraged Filipino curators and artists to submit their curatorial proposals for the Philippine Pavilion in the 57th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.

The Philippine Art Venice Biennale (PAVB) Coordinating Committee, composed of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and the Office of Senator Loren Legarda, will be accepting proposals until July 21, 2016.

Legarda Urges Gov’t to Address Chronic Malnutrition among Filipino Children

In observance of the National Nutrition Month, Senator Loren Legarda urged the government to strengthen programs that would address the country’s worsening state of malnutrition.

In making the appeal, Legarda pointed out that the country’s chronic malnutrition rate has increased from 30.3% in 2013 to 33.5 % in 2015 based on latest Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) data. Moreover, a study by the international organization Save The Children showed that 1 in 3 Filipino children suffers from stunting.

Senator Loren Legarda has filed her second batch of priority bills for the 17th Congress and said that these proposed measures are aimed at building an inclusive society and ensuring equitable opportunities for all.

“To be able to give everyone equal and equitable opportunities for growth, we need to address not only the concerns of Filipinos in general, but even more so those of our senior citizens, war veterans, persons with disabilities (PWDs), solo parents and others who have special needs that make it more challenging for them to be part of nation building,” said Legarda.

Legarda joins Filipino Muslims in celebration of Eid’l Fitr

Senator Loren Legarda today expressed solidarity with Filipino Muslims as she enjoined all Filipinos, regardless of religious and spiritual beliefs, to share in the celebration of Eid’l Fitr.
